has it been that long?

woah. i haven't blogged in ages. several reasons for this, most of which revolve around some exciting developments in writing papers for submission to journals but which mean that i have less time to myself. who needs time to themselves?! certainly not i.

i am alone in my open-plan office because everyone has just gone off to coffee. and i was going to go too, except that a visiting prof is here today (whom i am having dinner with tonight, along with my boss, the ass-kissing PhD student he's grooming, that slug and (thank god) the cool dude who used to be at the London School who now runs the MPhil (read: MSc. why does cambridge always have to be different?!) program here. envy me.)

anyhoo, the visiting prof seems nice. i mean, i'm basing that on two point five seconds of "hellos" from across the office. but still. not her fault. however she indirectly caused the already-pretty-high ass-kissing quotient to shoot through the roof this morning. god give me strength.
