pickled augergines are eggplants that drowned in vinegar

the wonder of wireless internet. i still don't get it. how the heck? miraculous. so i should be able to update you all more regularily of my comings and goings now. thank God for that.

tonight's menu: pumpkin in yoghurt, chicken in yoghurt, flat wholewheat bread, rice and pickled aubergines, onions and carrots at a lovely little spot in islington called the 'afghan kitchen'. the pulsating beat of the music and cool decor were really welcoming after a long (but not unfun) day at work and a bit of an annoying tube journey (the system is straining under the burden of the last two and half weeks of bombs and whatnot, and so each journey is slightly more tortuous than it would normally be. the new normal, i suppose). sadly the upstairs (where clarence and i were sat) was treated to a muffled version of the beats, and an extra loud girlie dinner-party. the food came promptly and we tucked in. the chicken was savoury, saucy and very tasty, while the pumpkin was disappointingly undercooked. the bread was nice while it was warm, but became more difficult to eat in a ladylike manner as it cooled. the chocolate mousse and coffee we had at the french 'la trouvaille' down the road more than made up for what the 'kitchen'-fare lacked in heartiness.

then we went on to see 'dig!' - the rockumentary about the dandy warhols and the brian jonestown massacre (pop-rock-indie bands from portland, oregon, and california (san fran?), respectively. it was a toe-tapping, giggling, kick in the head kind of film and one of the best i've seen in years. see it. and spread the word.

Not quite sure I have heard the saying "a kick in the head" type film. Could you just clarify that for me please?

p.s. a couple of times a boot actually makes contact with someone's head! didn't want you to have to wait for the dvd.......
