serenity now
i hate to be negative (...) but i don't feel much like going to the christmas "party" in my department. it starts in 8 minutes.
reasons for this may be some or all of the following:
1. "that slug" will be there, and i really really want to help him reach pure being. for those who haven't seen 'i heart huckabees' yet, this involves hitting a person/oneself in the face with a large pink ball.
"that slug" has been making it really hard for me to bannish him from my planet, as he keeps coming over to talk animatedly to the guy who works in the cubicle directly across from me. god help me.
2. i'm tired. i cleaned my whole house, made macaroons (for said "party"), and baked muffins last night after work.
3. i have a headache and an ichy nose (related to numbers 1 and 2 and to the fact that the windows in my office have been firmly closed for 48 hours. don't get me started on this last point).
i'll surely be dragged off to the 'do shortly. wish me luck.

i certainly sympathize with you, but i doubt if the lameness of your work "party" compares to the one we had yesterday. said "party" was held from 10 am to noon in one of the boardrooms. there was no alcohol but you could drink all the decaf coffee you can hold. mmmm...

oh dear.
update: i can take the quotation marks off party. it was actually quite amusing. just goes to show that lowered expectations do lead to a more enjoyable life in general.......

Pardon me for saying so, but all this "slug" talk in your blog makes me think that you and he will eventually wind up together in a surprising and heart-warming twist of fate, a la Bridget Jones.
Maybe all he needs is the love of a good woman?
(Also, I am picturing the slug cast as Colin Firth.)

give me colin firth any day.
one of our coworkers has said repeatedly to me that he needs the love of a good woman. that is, however, not in my job description.
