hold your breath

do you ever talk to someone about something and realize when you are finished that you were obviously really worked up about it?

that familiar feeling of relief is washing over me now that i've told my boss the dates i'll be away at christmas. i haven't taken this many days (incidently 26 days, including weekends) in a row since, well, before i ever had a summer job. so, like, a long time. anyway, there was no way in hell i was changing my plans - spending a much needed 2.5 weeks in canada, and then going skiing with rugby kids in france for a week - but that didn't stop me getting butterflies in my stomach and a lump in my throat when i went to speak to john.

he reconfirmed the importance of getting something concrete produced quickly, which is do-able, and told me to have fun (!). i said i realized it was cheeky and wouldn't be taking 3 consecutive weeks again. he agreed it was impossible to do so, as i only have 2 other holiday weeks until the anniversary of my appointment. it was one of those "jokes" where you were like "ha ha, yes, you're right [oh god...]".

anyhoo, it's done and i still have a job. i call that a successful meeting.
